The 2025-2026 track season will be the last for a stunning class of athletes. The senior class of 2026 has been representing Terrace from preview meets to state tournaments since 2022.
Current senior Brynlee Dubiel notably earned 4th place in 3A Girls 300 Meter Hurdles during the state championship her freshman year, going on to place again in every year of high school so far. Despite a switch of coaching during last year’s 2024-2025 season, Terrace athletes have continued to persevere through rainy meets, injuries, and balancing academics with athleticism.

Sierra Swan sustained an injury sophomore year which put her out of the entire volleyball season and part of the cheer season; she was told she may never be able to throw the javelin again. Despite these hardships, Swan earned 4th place in the 3A girls javelin throw final, throwing an outstanding 121-10.
In the first competitive meet of the season Terrace athletes faced Sultan and Mariner at Goddard Stadium on March 26. Terrace smoked the competition with a dominating performance in many of the events, especially the running events. Out of the 16 individual running events between men’s and women’s, Terrace took first place in 14 of them.
In the mile, Hawks athletes took the first 10 places in the men’s race and the first six in the women’s, Jackson Fears and Cymmantha Erickson heading the race with times of 4:47.6 and 6:10.5 respectively.
The following meet, consisting of Lynnwood, Shorecrest, and Terrace brought tougher competition on April 2. Although not as dominant, Terrace still took many important victories. Notable performances include senior Allison Mervin’s 26.07 in the 200 meter dash and 18-02.25 in the long jump, senior Sierra Swan with a 109-04 javelin toss, and junior Andrew McBride with a 54.39 in the 400 meter dash.

In the meet with Woodway and Shorewood, Terrace had victories in the men’s 400 meter where senior Muhammed (Mo) Sillah ran a 56.05, and the women’s 300 meter hurdles where Brynlee Dubiel ran a 45.32.
The April 23 meet at Everett Memorial Stadium once again brought tight matchups and strong competition from Everett and Marysville-Pilchuck. Notable victories include Haruna DiPippo who ran a 27.18 for first in the 200 meter dash, and junior Zach Macdonald with a javelin throw of 144 feet even for the win.
Terrace’s meet with Glacier Peak and Marysville-Getchell proved one of its hardest, especially considering that Glacier Peak is a better funded 4A school. Some outstanding performances include Reilly Brookhart in the mile with a time of 4:43.49, and both Sierra Swan and Zachary Mcdonald in the javelin event with throws of 121-10 and 145-09 respectively.
On the eve of the postseason, Terrace will continue to flourish through championships.
Head coach Archie Malloy spoke hopefully of what is to come. “I’m very excited to see what our young student athletes Can do, we got some people who have post season experience, and they’re looking to go back and build on that and finish even higher,” Malloy said.
Malloy further elaborated on the class of 2026. “They have laid a great foundation as far as modeling what student athletes should look like and act like on a daily basis,” Malloy said. “I’m very impressed with the kids I’ve had the opportunity to coach and teach that are leaving us this year.”
