The stands at Edmonds Stadium were packed and full of energy on a Friday night as the Mountlake Terrace Hawks put on a show in their homecoming game! Dressed in class colors of grey, white, black, and red, fans cheered nonstop as the Hawks stayed undefeated with a huge win over the Everett Seagulls. From kickoff to the final whistle, the game was full of energy, loud fans, and big plays.
Right from the start, you could tell the Hawks were ready. The crowd was loud, the band was hyped, and the players came out strong. The team they faced was decent, not having the best record of 3-4 , but the Hawks made sure to prove who the better team was.
The scoring started right away when in the first quarter, junior quarterback Mason Wilson connected with senior Cody Ekanayake for a 31-yard touchdown that brought everyone on their feet. The throw was right on target, and Cody caught it in stride before breaking a tackle, running into an ankle breaker to burn the next defender to run the ball to the promise land. The crowd went crazy, and it set the tone for the rest of the night to be similar.

Not long after, Ekanayake struck again, this time with a 25-yard rushing touchdown. The offensive line made some huge blocks, giving him space to burst through and score easily. You could see the confidence building as the Hawks took full control of the game.
The most exhilarating moment of the night came from junior Owen Boswell, who returned a kick 80 yards for a touchdown! He broke past the first wave of defenders and got two key blocks from the team that made the rest of the run open field for days. The fans went wild as he sprinted into the end zone, it was the type of play fans will be talking about all season.
After the game, Alex Robinson talked about how much the team had prepared for this game. He said, “The team’s full week of prep, and the energy coming out of halftime sealed the game.” He also added, “The entire line was solid tonight, not letting anyone get through to the quarterbacks, and having two key sacks.”
That hard work really showed. The defense played tough, the line protected well, and every unit, from offense to special teams, did their part. Coming out of halftime, the team looked even more focused. The team jumped out of the locker room on fire for the second half.
By the third quarter it was clear this was the Hawks’ night. Every drive seemed to go their way, and the defense shut down almost everything Everett had in store. Even as backups came in, the effort never dropped. It was a full team win from start to finish.
The game wasn’t just about football, it was also about school spirit. The stands were a sea of class colors, with students cheering, waving flags, and showing pride for Mountlake Terrace. It was evident that the Hawks at the half held the Seagulls in their talon. The defense showed no mercy not allowing any runs in the second half of the game.

When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard said it all–a 48-7 massacre. This was a massive win for the Hawks. The team stayed undefeated moving onto 7-0 heading into the sunset finish you could only dream of. The homecoming crowd went home ecstatic with sore throats, having belted with passion all night. It was the kind of game that reminds everyone why homecoming matters. Fun, pride, and community all wrapped into one amazing night for our school. This win showed what makes the Hawks special, teamwork, preparation, and heart.
Every player, coach, and fan played a part in making the night unforgettable.
