A tragedy struck the Lynwood community on Monday Jan. 19, a large fire broke out in a Lynwood duplex overnight, killing one and leaving four without homes. Firefighters rushed to the scene and successfully put out the fire with minimal injury. The fire spread all through the duplex’s attic and lower levels but mainly affected one side, it had been hard to clean and put out the fire properly due to a large amount of items. Since then the duplex has been deemed uninhabitable, with extreme damage. The body was identified to be male in their 60s with some sources claiming them as the landlord. As of right now the fire’s cause is still being looked into by the fire marshal’s office and South County Fire urges people to check and keep their fire alarms up to date.
