The Mountlake Terrace softball team knocked off the previously undefeated Meadowdale Mavericks 7-6 on Apr. 19.
The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the second inning with back to back home runs by senior Chelsea Crews and sophomore Rene Bos, pushing the Hawks ahead 3-1. The Mavs then scored two runs in the third inning to tie the game.
However, the Hawks started rolling in the bottom of the third inning.
Four runs were scored on a flurry of hits. Bos, freshman Maddy Kristjanson and sophomore Hannah Fickle all drove in runs. The Hawks had a chance to add on more runs but eventually left three runners stranded on base.
The Mavs refused to go away though. They scored three runs and the game came down to the very end. But the Hawks finished the game off and move another step closer to the top of the WesCo 3A standings.
