Last Tuesday night, the Hawks women’s soccer team fell to the Lynnwood Royals 3-1 at Edmonds Stadium. The game started off strong for the Hawks as in the eighth minute; forward Julia Hart scored to put the Hawks in the lead.

In an interview with Doug Petrowski for MLTnews.com, Lynnwood Coach Mark McAlexander called Hart a “special player.”

But it was short lived, as Royal’s senior Cassidy O’Dell scored only one minute later to knot the game backup at 1-1. The Hawks continued to keep the pressure on the Royals as in the 12th minute Hart came close again with a shot across goal off the post, but after that the Hawks offense began to fizzle.

In the 32nd minute Lynnwood forward Madison Hinkel scored to put the Royals in the lead 2-1, and they would not look back from that. In the second half, Hinkel added another to give the Royals the 3-1 victory. The Hawks’ next match is Thursday, September 14th against Everett. The match starts at 7:30 p.m. and is at Lynnwood High School.
