Two students died, including the suspected shooter, and four others were injured when a student opened fire inside the cafeteria at Marysville Pilchuck High School earlier this morning.
Edmonds School District Superintendent Dr. Nick Brossoit released a statement regarding the shooting earlier today.
The statement reads as follows:
“Today there was a shooting at Marysville Pilchuck High School. The media is providing updates; information about this situation is still being developed. The Marysville district and law enforcement are in the reunification process of connecting parents and students from the school at a nearby church.
We have reached out to officials in the Marysville School District, offering our condolences and support. In addition to keeping them in our thoughts and prayers, we have offered help with communications, and will be sending related staff to assist. We have also offered counseling support for students or staff that will be part of their plan in the days that follow. Thanks to our staff for being ready to help.
The news of this event impacts students, families, and each of us. Thank you for the caring and competent support that you provide for each other, our students, and families.
