Session 2: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
STEM & Journalism: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (participants must provide their own lunch)

ABOUT THE STEM & JOURNALISM CAMP
Overview
Come learn STEM and print/digital journalism from the students and staff of the premier high school STEM and media programs in the country. The MTHS STEM & Journalism Camp runs from August 21-22 from 9 a.m. to 4p.m. This camp is for students who will be in 6th, 7th or 8th grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
There are three ways to enjoy our program:
- Attend BOTH the STEM and Journalism Camp – The Camp Combo! | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day
- Attend just the STEM Camp – Session 1 is from 9 a.m. to noon | Session 2 is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Attend just the Journalism Camp – Session 1 is from 9 a.m. to noon | Session 2 is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Note: Students who attend both the STEM & Journalism Camp will need to bring lunch each day, but some snacks will be provided.
Additional Information
- Location: The camp will be held at Edmonds College (due to construction at MTHS) | 20000 68th Avenue West in Lynnwood
- Materials Provided: Students will get a t-shirt and daily snacks. All necessary materials are provided for all activities.
- Curriculum:
- STEM projects include: Balsa Gliders, Biotechnology, Giant Angry Birds, CAD/Laser Design, Robotics and more!
- Journalism topics include: Interviewing, Reporting, Journalistic Writing, Photojournalism, Layout and more! Students will learn and use state-of-the art, high-tech newsroom equipment. The J-Camp’s final project is to produce a two-page newspaper spread and content for TheHawkeye.org award-winning website.
