Homecoming was held in the Terraceum on Oct. 12 and it was quite the blast. The participation for the spirit days were awesome but the amount of people helping with the hallway decorations was even better. There were so many people helping with decorations, and it was incredible to see all of the students of different years not only helping themselves but others and letting their artistic talents shine. For the few weeks leading up to homecoming, you could see people after school everyday putting in their best efforts and having fun working together to make masterpieces in the hallways. This year for homecoming, the overall theme was “It’s a Small World.” Through the four hallways, the students of MTHS created the monuments and culture references, representing their class’s assigned city. This year the freshman had Las Vegas, USA. They brought this theme to life with the colors and different monuments they made to highlight the city. The sophomores had Rome, Italy, of which they did a phenomenal job. They represented the city that’s known for the beautiful architecture and history of Italy and the unique styling of the buildings by using pastels and a bunch of other medians and bringing the vibe of the salty ocean water. The juniors had Havana, Cuba where they used bright colors to represent the life of the city and used flowers to accent the dark colors behind them. Lastly, the senior hallway was based off of Tokyo, Japan. It was magnificent, with the students using the full extent of the hallway doors, lights and the snack shop shutter to create a ramen shop, along with all of the cute characters they incorporated from games, anime, and movies, and a beautiful realistic drawing of a car drifting around all of Tokyo, Japan. A deserved win for the seniors.
