The Foundation for Edmonds School District has received a $55,000 grant to fund high school scholarships from the Hazel Miller Foundation. The grant was announced by the Foundation on Tuesday, Dec. 3 and will award $5,000 each to selected graduating high school seniors in the ESD through the Morris and Hazel Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships will be awarded to two graduating seniors at MTHS, Edmonds-Woodway High School, Lynnwood High School and Meadowdale High School. Additionally, one graduating senior from Scriber Lake High School, Edmonds Heights K-12 and Edmonds eLearning Academy will each receive the scholarship. In total, 11 graduating seniors from the ESD who plan to pursue higher education through a university, community college or vocational-technical institution will receive the scholarships.
Seniors may submit applications for the scholarship, and all scholarships offered by the Foundation, through March 27, 2020. The information about and application for the scholarship can be found on the Foundation’s website along with the other scholarships that the Foundation offers to ESD students.
The Hazel Miller Foundation is a non-profit foundation that seeks to support programs and projects benefiting the public in Edmonds and South Snohomish County. The Hazel Miller Foundation has a particular emphasis on supporting the areas of education and youth services, alleviation of poverty and hunger, civic and community services, the environment, diversity, culture and the arts.
Annually, the Hazel Miller Foundation offers about $500,000 to charities and non-profit organizations in its service area. Applications for grants from the organization are considered quarterly.
