Five Edmonds School District students ranging in ages 13 to 16 were involved in a one car accident in Edmonds on Friday.
The BMW swerved off the road before hitting a tree, taking the lives of 16-year-old Zach Langer of Edmonds and 15-year-old Noah Vires of Mountlake Terrace.
Speed is believed to be the main factor of the crash near the 8000 block of Olympic View Drive, according to Edmonds police Sgt. Shane Hawley.
This road, nicknamed “snake road” by residents of the area, has a speed limit of 25 mph and just 20 mph in the area of the crash.
The vehicle had three other passengers, two females and another male.
One of the female passengers was able to escape the crashed BMW with only minor injuries and receive help from a passing driver at around 11:30 p.m.
The surviving passengers were taken to the Harborview Medical Center located in Seattle. Two of the three had more major injuries including broken bones.
