Tonight, Feb. 9, Meadowdale High School will be hosting a college planning night. This is an opportunity for all Edmonds School District (ESD) sophomores and juniors to get a head start on preparing for college.
“Any student planning their post-high school education would find [college planning night] extremely helpful,” MTHS career specialist Barb Brister said.
Students and their parents can go to three “breakout” sessions and have over twenty options to choose from. There are sessions made just for parents, such as “How to be a Supportive Parent Through the College Search” or “A Parent’s Guide to the College Essay and Personal Statement.”
The representatives will be talking about all things college, such as financial aid, the application process, testing, and more. For more information on the different sessions available, click here.
There are many different speakers for the breakout students, all of which are representatives from different universities, Community Colleges and/or Financial Aid Services. Dr. George Bridges from Evergreen State College will be there as a keynote speaker.
“Choosing a College is a very individual and complex issue,” Brister said, “The more knowledge that is gained, the better the decisions will be.”
