In order to allow better hearing around school, MTHS administrators recently purchased five new earpieces.
The equipment is being used by the administrators and the head custodian. In total, five staff members received the new earpieces.
This equipment cost the school $150 ($30 per earpiece).
The earpieces allow the administrators to better hear their radios.
According to Assistant Principal Peter Schurke, the main reason the new earpieces were purchased was because, “We had constant problems hearing each other during lunch.”
Schurke said the only way for the administrative team to hear in the HUB was to put the radio right up to their ear, because of the high volume in the HUB.
Schurke also said, “For me it has been worth it because I can actually hear when I’m out and about…and I also get to be the butt of a lot of student jokes about looking like a FBI agent or a secret service person.”
Schurke said he likes to interact with the students through these jokes, “As long as it’s good natured humor we all can be fine with.”
“It’s a good thing that we have [the earpieces] and [we] are learning to be more efficient with them,” Schurke said.

I like this improvement. Plus it makes it a bit easier in terms of privacy between the administration. The Walkie-Talkies were fairly easy to hear as a student, and sometimes, that’s just not what you want.
