The Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Mountlake Terrace, on the corner of 55th and 236th St has moved to a new location in Lynnwood at 16824 44th Ave W.
The reason behind moving Reverend Wade Plante said a new location was necessary in order to grow in the ways the church wanted. However, he continued, the city of Mountlake Terrace, would not approve the building permits despite the fact that the church had the land on their property.
The new building cost about $5 million, a significant increase from the original Mountlake Terrace building with an original cost of about $250 thousand.
Most of the people who attend the church services were excited, according to Plante, as the new building is 250 square feet and able to hold about 100 more people, has secured parking and has better location in regards to access to the building, according to Plante.
As for aesthetics, the Mountlake Terrace building held a more “traditional” church building, as Plante described it, while the Lynnwood location is an office building.
With new changes, Plante said the team is excited for their new building and always welcomes visitors.
