The mens basketball team hosted the Cedarcrest Red Wolves for their first playoff game on Saturday night with the tipoff beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Throughout the first quarter the game seemed to be neck and neck as the teams started the second quarter with only a two point difference, but by the second half it was clear who was going to win.
In the second half of the game only 18 points were scored by the Red Wolves. Of those points, 16 were scored by a single person.
Cedarcrest only had a total of five people score throughout the entire game.
When it came to free throws, the Hawks had an impressive 12 for 13 outcome.
Junior and forward Khyree Armstead scored the most points, ending the game with a total of 23 points. Surprisingly the player that scored the second most points was Red Wolves senior and power forward Cameron Hammontree with 21 points scored by the end of the night. Hammontree accounted for 56 percent of the points scored by Cedarcrest.
The game ended with the Hawks on top and a score of 59-37.
The boys will go on to play the Bellingham Raiders tonight at Mount Vernon High School. Whoever wins Tuesdays game will advance to state.
