MTHS was one of 413 schools to be named winners of the 2013 Washington Achievement Award, considered one of the highest honors for public schools in the state.
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the State Board of Education awarded MTHS as a ‘High Progress’ school.
In an official press release, Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn said, “So many schools in our state are doing good work to make a difference for kids.”
He said, “These awards represent some of the best. It’s an honor to recognize them and celebrate their success.”
MTHS was one of six Edmonds School District schools to win the award, with Maplewood Parent Cooperative, Sherwood Elementary, Cedar Valley Community School, Challenge Elementary and Edmonds Woodway High all winning achievement awards.
The winning schools will be honored at a ceremony at Timberline High School in Lacey on Thursday, April 24.
