MTHS will host the regional FIRST Robotics Competition Season Kickoff at tomorrow’s all day event in the Terraceum.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics teams from around the region will be present at tomorrow’s robot build-off.

The kickoff is the beginning of the build season for local high school robotics teams across the country.

MTHS Robotics Vice President Katie-Beth Higgins said, “After tomorrow we have just six weeks to build a robot.” Higgins said tomorrow’s festivities will include the designing and initial building of robots.

“We actually will be building [tomorrow]. After we get the game video we will have a brief summary session and the new teams are going to come down to the shop and we’re going to help them build the robots,” she said.

The event will be shown live by the NASA TV broadcast, beginning at 7:30 a.m., and can be found by clicking here.

Higgins said she’s very excited for tomorrow’s event and encourages people to come out and watch the event.

She said if you come tomorrow you can expect to see, “A lot of nerds getting excited about something really, really cool.”
