Police activity sparks brief lockdown

Police activity south of the MTHS campus sparked a brief lockdown during second period early Friday.

According to The Hearld, police officers were searching for a suspect in a stolen vehicle case.

The “soft lockdown,” which was in place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 9:05 a.m. prompted school officials to lock all exterior doors of the school and not allow any students to leave or enter. Teachers were informed to resume their classes normally.

For a short period of time, students on buses headed toward nearby Cedar Way Elementary were diverted and sheltered in the theater at MTHS.

A letter informing parents about the lockdown was sent home with students late Friday.
