The detour of 222nd St. SW continues, while work crews make several improvements to 222nd St. between 44th Avenue W to 39th Avenue W.

The detour is scheduled to continue until Oct. 11. However, a statement from the city said, “this schedule is weather dependent and may be modified.”

222nd St. will be closed from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the days of construction work.

The detour provided takes drivers around 222nd St. to 220nd St.

The construction is for the Sidewalk and Water Main Project and include many improvements and renovations.

According to the city’s statement on the detour,  “the 222nd Street SW Water Main and Sidewalk Improvements project will provide curbs and sidewalks along the north side of 222nd Street SW between 44th Avenue West to 39th Avenue West.”

Improvement project funding comes from a grant from the Snohomish County Human Services Dept. for $200,000 and from several city funds.

The city’s statement said the improvements will “create a safe pedestrian connection between 44th Ave. W and 39th Ave. W to the city’s principal sidewalk networks, provide access to nearby public transportation routes, promote walking as exercise, provide safe access to the neighborhood park, and increase accessibility for disabled citizens.”
