Sophomore post Lauren LaCasse pulls down an offensive rebound early in the Hawks victory over Glacier Peak Friday night before a packed house in the Terraceum.

THE TERRACEUM – The Hawks defeated Glacier Peak 53-45 Friday night before an overflow crowd to capture the District 1 3A Men’s Basketball Tournament crown.

Junior guards Blake Fernandez and Marquis Armstead each scored 16 for the Hawks and senior post Ryan Shannon dropped in 7 to lead the Hawks to their first District championship since 2000.

The Grizzlies’ junior post Zach Pederson led all scorers with 23, but no other Glacier Peak player had more than 6 points.

Once again, the Hawks stifling defense led the way, holding Glacier Peak to single digits in the first and third quarters – a feat the Hawks have accomplished in all but one game this season.
