Hawks lose season opener to Mercer Island, 28-6

Mountlake Terrace suffered a tough non-conference loss this past Friday as the Hawks fell short to the Mercer Island Islanders 28-6.

Mountlake Terrace’s lone 6 points came at the hands of Junior Seydou Traore in the 4th quarter. A great block by senior Offensive Lineman JP McIntosh opened up the gap for Traore to score the touchdown.

Mercer Island’s offense shined in this game. Their passing game was clicking in this matchup. Junior Quarterback Clay Dippold had two passing touchdowns. Dippold showed an impressive amount of accuracy and efficiency in his passing game. Mercer also had two rushing touchdowns from Cole Miller and Jack Clayville.

Terrace’s versatile star senior Brandon Bach went down in the endzone from a nasty hit to the helmet from Defensive Back Alex Pritchard. He struggled to get off the field as Terrace football fans sat in silence.

It was a hard fought game for the Hawks but in the end, they were outplayed. Terrace is no doubt using this loss as a motivator for their next game against Ingraham High School on September 7 at 7 p.m.
