The Edmonds School District will host a free screening of the film “Beyond Measure” in the MTHS theater tomorrow from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The production is a compilation of stories from educators and other professionals around the United States who push for a new method of education. The film focuses on the struggles of the education system and the changes made to fix them. However, it also explores the possible downsides of these changes.

“Beyond Measure” addresses the issue with standardizing school curriculum and the way student progress is measured.

Sources in the film seek to find the true purpose of education and the value of learning. The intent behind “Beyond Measure” is to show the importance of personal growth of students and passion for discovering new things, rather than creating the mindset that a student is reduced to only their test scores.

Following the screening will be a short discussion about the film.

The event was organized with support from the Edmonds Rotary and the work of community member Kal Taylor.
